Farewell’15 (Department of English) 29/04/2015

Well, this day was a new day; like any other day, yet it had some definite ‘light’, this day was shining bright.

The morning was serene, compose and vibrant enough to enchant the songs of happiness and love for people who were our ‘seniors’. We ‘juniors’ peddled our ways to college well before time, so that nothing was left undone, in the plethora of arrangements. So, as the seniors took their time to get ready, as few of the girls were wearing sarees for the first time in their lives and about the boys, they were much early to arrive than the girls. No doubt, girls spend time in parlours. Haha.
The event kickstarted at 11:30am, with the opening speech by Aishwarya Anand and Priyam Arun; what followed up were the  thrilling music performances by Nidhi Panchal, Priyansh Saxena and Archit Arora. Rashmi from the second year came up on stage to cheer up the audience and the ‘seniors’ with her humour and quick wit. In no time as the seniors arrived, the most sought after ramp walk came into show. The seniors cherished every bit of it, and their smiles did spread positive vibes with the colourful decoration by Shahana and Kirti in the college auditorium. Then, Guneev Puri and Shruti Shukla came up to take ahead the Mr & Ms. Farewell rounds.

The first round of the Mr. & Ms. Farewell event saw the seniors responding to the ‘dares’, set up by the juniors. Very interestingly, the dares moved the audience to splits of laughter and excitement. Every senior got a dare and they were really sportive. In one dare, a senior was asked to sell a junior and then Deepti Rathee and Harshili Malhotra were made to dance on old film songs. Shruti, the anchor took up a rapid fire round with Swapnil Hooda and he did it very well. In another dare, Naina Awana was asked to pick up a junior from the opposite sex, for a ballroom dance with her. She carried it along, very gracefully.

Just after the first round, three back to back dance performances took the energy of the farewell to yet another level. The performers were, Sushmita Priyadarshini, Seema Marndi in one dance. Aishwarya Anand, Priyam Arun, Kirti Chaudhary and Shahana in another nerve thrilling performance and the third one was a solo performance by Stefy Patel. Then the titles were announced for every senior with Surbhi Juyal getting the ‘Ms. President’ title, for she’s the current President of the English Literary Society. At the same time, every senior collected their titles from the stage and in addition a group photograph along with graduation caps were given to the seniors. These graduation caps were handmade by juniors who had been working for the event’s success for long. The pictures were being clicked continuously by photographers, Seema Marndi, Nitin Kudada, Ritika Pal and Raavi Joshi. Next came the second round of Mr. & Ms. Farewell event, when 5 boys and 5 girls from the seniors were selected. Here one girl was to drape a saree to one boy. This was hilarious, and everyone made the most of it! Cheers and applause greeted the participants on the stage. At one place, one senior, Jiwantika who was draping saree on Swapnil found that the saree was smaller on him, as he was too tall; yet he cooperated with her, hence his title of ‘The Friendly Khamba’ proved to be true. Dhruv Attri on the other hand brought a lot of laughter to everyone with his breathtaking ‘malrobe wardfunction’, which was enjoyed by everyone. LOL! !
The surprise event of the day, brought the smiles spelt even wider and made everyone sentimental at the same time. This surprise event was the ‘video’, which the juniors had conceptualised. The third year students loved it, and everyone wanted to see it again. They made sure, they were getting the video to keep forever with them as one of the greatest memory of their college life. The video carried all the highlights of their college life.

The last round of the Mr. & Ms. Farewell was the question-answer round and the teachers were judging it. The results soon came out, and Swapnil Hooda was given the title of Mr. Farewell’15, whereas Saima was entitled, Ms. Farewell’15. It was a wonderful occasion to be. Soon, the students posed for group photographs and lunch was followed where everyone joined in again.
The last event of the day, the DJ moved everyone on the dance floor and everyone danced their hearts out, to three years of college life. Yes, we will miss you dear seniors and we wish you all the very best in all your endeavours in life. May you reach the greatest heights and fulfil all your dreams. You’ll be fondly missed by all of us. Stay blessed and thanks for everything in these years.
With love
Your juniors :)
