What time is it?

What more can I say when my mind is out of pace? Yesterday, I thought the day was Saturday, whereas it was Thursday. " Moving so fast or are you left still in a mental condition/dilemma where you walk a different mile?" I questioned myself! This very situation makes me remember a chapter I read in one of Robin Sharma's books, where he described how it wasn't an urgency to wear a watch in one's hand every time. That, it wasn't important to pick up every call on your phone, because telephone or technology for that matter exists for our convenience, not to drive ourselves out of it. Similarly, don't just keep on reminding yourself that today is Friday, Saturday or Sunday! Yes, I very well understand this that in our everyday lives it is important to keep a check on the date and time considering work and assignments. But why not try setting yourself free of all the boundaries constructed around you? "Take some time off and give yourself time for expr...

Snippets of The Mind! (21/03/2016)

8. —FINDING MYSELF What is this emotion? Why is this emotion? Why am I not behaving normal, and what is being normal? Such thoughts come to my mind time and again. I feel incomplete yet I don't want to make efforts to bring things in order. I just wish to breathe free but I cannot—that is what problematises the situations for me further. I like this order of things, i.e., no order at all. All haphazard like, and nothing definite about life in my sight.  I think Meditation can make things easier for me. I think I need not think too much and not go diverse ways, but at this age I cannot be so logical. Or even if I need to be, I don't want to be. I want to explore the reaches of my being, I wish to see diverse regions and search what is the best for me.  I wish to see what I see in the wild pictures, I wish to roam around the places which make me wonder, and I want to be of help to those who are far away or nearer to me. Distance doesn't only interest me, i...

LEFTISTS OR ANTI-NATIONALISTS? #JNUPROTESTS

Written by Ritika  Sarraf Freedom of religion, freedom of expression, freedom of speech are some of the rights that the Constitution of India guarantees us. Every constituent of our 1.2 billion population is well versed with their fundamental rights but how many know about fundamental duties, let alone disposing them? Shouldn’t our freedom be limited by our duties? Can we, in the name of freedom of expression, malign the very soil which has nurtured us?  Stretching the limits of their freedom indefinitely, some JNUites raised slogans like – “ Bharat teri barbadi tak jang rahegi, jang rahegi ” , which effectively translates to- “We will fight till India is destroyed”. Studying in one of the prestigious educational institutes of the country, centrally funded through the Indian taxpayers' money, these students who the nation sees as its future torchbearers are sloganeering against the very spirit of this idea called India. The same country which has given them all the ...

Is OYO Rooms Really A Comfortable And Affordable Option? Find Out In This Blog

Image
It is a matter of great prestige to site a fact that, the largest literature festival in terms of its scale is the Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF). I had been hearing for a long while about the OYO Rooms, thanks to its massive publicity. This time I chose to stay at OYO Rooms, and the nearest one to the venue of JLF was  DRS 8586 Haveli, in Adinath Nagar  on the JLN Marg. I was satisfied to hear the price to stay there for a day, which was a nominal Rs. 999.  The room which I got was clean, with all requirements which a decent hotel would provide to its customer, plus its location was very posh.  I liked the idea of the dining at its terrace, where I ate my breakfast daily! Students d o not miss the free meals, mind you. Haha!! The fresh chilly breeze of winters added to the excitement to visit the Festival venue as soon as possible every day.  The best part was that there were choices the hotel gave us at 8am in the morning, starting from Poha, Maggie, But...

Life—A Journey Full of Flashbacks and Memories

Image
Image Source: Wikipedia There are some positive and negative forces holding this world together.   Forces that can't be seen but only felt. And that is what people refer as GOD. Different religion, different names, but for me it's one's CONSCIENCE . It's the only thing that lets you choose between the choices and the following consequences. For the following two things are the only close ones to this God Particle.  1. Work Ethics - either working selflessly or selfishly because your work represents you, your personality, your thoughts, your perspective. It represents your inner voice, the true you, the hidden face. 2. Music - This is a bit difficult to explain, but let me try. Time , as we know, a physical quantity that we (humans, highest on the intellectual chart) can't control. Though we have qualified ourselves enough to prove that time moves on constantly and keeps going on and on endlessly. We can't store it, can't play, pause forw...

AdviceAdda.com, One Spot For All Advices You Need To Take!

Image
When one sits for placement in a company, one makes sure that one has good knowledge about the respective company. This knowledge can be in the form of analysis of it's functioning or a general idea of how it works and what it specialises in. This is more important when the company is not that known or famous.  It is what happened with me, when I got to know that AdviceAdda.com was coming to my college for placements. I had not heard about any such company, but when I visited its web link I felt that it was something what I had never seen before. AdviceAdda.com is one spot where all questions asked by people are answered in less than one week's time. It might sound to you that it is something very usual. The same can be done on Google or Yahoo Answers and these days Quora is a hit amongst youngsters, who go with their question to these websites where random people answer them. But AdviceAdda.com is not one of them, that was what interested me head over heels. I might soun...

What internships are doing to you?

Image
Yes, the question which is raised is that whether you are working as an intern at the right place or not? These days when new startups are coming up—people with entrepreneurship spirits are trying their bit to launch their ideas. So, can they fulfil all their motives by themselves or do they need some backup in this regard? Backup comes in the form of people (human resource), in the form of funds (from investors) and just a launching pad (the idea). Image Source:  http://www.wagehourinsights.com/intern.jpg How do most of these ideas work? Take for instance if a college graduate or a college student has an idea—so to build upon that idea, one would need people to backup. Right? So, there is a need to accept interns—where the company explains their working to them and in return gets its work done. It can be about content writing for instance in the current scenario many businesses flourish from social media, and there would also be need of marketing both at offline and on...

Wonder Phase of Life: College

Image
Why are few things difficult when those could be easier? Why do I have to insist upon my ideals with a team which believes in something totally different? Why do I have to interfere in everything, just to make sure things are going well? And then standing at the receiving end with all the blame pouring out on me.  We had started as a team which somewhere got drifted from its main line, or theme. Why? No answers for this, I suppose - it is just in exercising authority and power. But how far can one go about in doing so? This I have seen, standing at both the ends; of a performer and a viewer,  (exercising authority and being exercised upon). Then finally there is a day when you are all at guilt. With people throwing bits at you, their intelligence gives them the authority to be judgemental about one person, that that one person almost dies within one's being.  There is an end to all the suffering you say it, or there is always a beginning of the suffering. N...

COLLEGE DIARIES - How Days Pass?

Image
By, Ananya Nandi With the ending of Class 12th Board Examination, a realisation occurred that School Days were over and there was beginning of a new chapter in Life. My School Life finally came to a hault when the results came, it didn't give me any kind of over the top happiness but definitely brought a smile to my face. MISSION ADMISSION JUNE was the month of Admission in every college.  With the Students taking Admission, JULY had been the month of shopping, shopping and more shopping. Image Source: Artist Address 20th JULY'15: The day which saw a lot of hustle bustle with the gates of New Life Opening. The Fear and Excitement was evident on each & every Fresher's Face regarding how exciting the College Life would be and the awkwardness of adjusting in a completely new and different environment. First Week of the College started with a bang of New Friends , interaction with Seniors & New Teachers and even with the Students of Other De...

Introspect, Ask Yourself; Was This The Reason We Started This Initiative?

Image
Sometimes your heart is not really at peace, yet it has to seek for peace. When you are not happy with the things happening around you, but you want to let it be- you don't want to create any more disturbances. You feel that sometimes things get better by their own. You feel that sometimes, silence will make things better; but does silence really work? Don't the voices around you, tend to rule on you when you are silent? But then it comes to me, and I say, "let it be". I always feel that respect is what makes a person perform the best. Respect not for who you are, but respect for what you do or you have done for others and for betterment of either society or some condition prevailing around you. You don't ask for power or post in anything, knowing that these things for Namesake can create differences amongst people, and especially when you have your friends with you. Giving someone regard doesn't have to mean that one person becomes the ruler of others. It ...

Addressing The Soul

Image
Picture Source: Pixabay Call it busyness or call it business, the crux is that we always have something or the other to do. Either assignment questions are pending or updating a website while working in a social media firm is waiting for us. How so ever you think, time would stop for you; it just does not. Time moves by, and one has to hold on to moments to take our peace from them. One need not lazily let the free time walk past, but the question here is; that is there any free time? Or is it, free time in disguise? That it only appears as free time for a person when in real it is not such. I go to visit a friend of mine, I come back home and to find my peace I start walking in a park that would lead me to the metro station on my way back home. Now is spending time in the park with myself, walking alone; does it mean free time to me? The question is this. Or is the free time which one is able to spend doing whatever one likes, away from all responsibilities or deadlines of the w...
